Desktop Publishing Training

Book Cover Design Course - January/Fabruary 2009
The course will be run on Saturday 31st January and repeated again on Saturday 7th February at Pen2Print Publishing from 10am until 5pm with regular breaks and lunch break.

The course will address the following:
- The principals of book cover design
- An introduction to Adobe Photoshop
- How to use the primary tools and effects
- How to set up a document for high quality printing
- How the spine thickness is calculated
- Printing bleed explained
- Understanding layers
- How to scan artwork for high quality printing
- Where and how to buy stock photography and illustrations
- How to save your work and prepare print ready files

There are a maximum x6 places available per course.
Course fee: £60
A non-refundable £15 deposit is required to guarantee your place - please make cheque payable to ‘Pen2Print’ and post to our office address.

Pre-requisites
The course is quite intensive so knowledge of computer basics are essential.

Notes
Please bring a note pad and pen as you will be expected to make your own notes.

Access to Adobe Photoshop
If don't own a copy of Adobe Photoshop, we have 5 computers in our office with Adobe Photoshop pre-installed and you’re welcome to use them for free during office hours. Please call Tom or Charlotte to arrange use in advance.
